. Apply basic formatting to the post in WordPress:
- Bold and italicize certain words.
- Use bullet or numbered lists.
- Add a heading (H2) above one of your paragraphs.
- Assign a category (e.g., “General” or a custom category).
- Add at least two tags (keywords related to your post).
- Set a featured image.
Publish the post and verify it on the front-end of your website
Method:
Apply Basic Formatting and Publish a Post in WordPress
- Log in to your WordPress Dashboard.
- Go to Posts → Add New (or edit an existing post).
Add and Format Content
- In the Title field, enter your post title (e.g., My Formatted Post).
- In the content editor:
- Bold important words by selecting them and clicking B or pressing
Ctrl + B. - Italicize words by selecting them and clicking I or pressing
Ctrl + I. - Add a bullet list or numbered list using the list buttons.
- Add a heading (H2) above a paragraph by selecting the text and choosing Heading 2 from the block toolbar.
- Bold important words by selecting them and clicking B or pressing
Example:
Heading 2: My Post Highlights
- First point
- Second point
- Third point
This is a bold word and this is an italicized word.
Assign Category and Tags
- In the right sidebar, under Categories:
- Select an existing category (e.g., General) or Add New Category.
- Under Tags, add at least two relevant tags (e.g., WordPress, Formatting). Press Enter after each tag.
Set Featured Image
- In the Featured Image section (right sidebar), click Set Featured Image.
- Upload an image or select one from the media library.
- Click Set Featured Image.
Publish Post
- Click Publish at the top-right corner.
- Click Publish again to confirm.
- Visit your website’s front-end to verify:
- Formatting is applied correctly
- Category and tags are visible
- Featured image appears
- Post content displays as intended
